Back on Blog..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The visit from my nephew and his family was so short and packed full of fun. Adam, my grand-nephew, is such a good kid and he loves being here with us. We always look forward to his Spring break, and his 'birthday' visit. He's nine now and I wonder how long his joy for visiting with his old Auntie and Uncle will last...for now, though, I will savor the time together.
"Adam's dam...still standing by the way.."
Running through the mud on one of the trips to West VaCo was a thrill for Adam. He is getting quite good on his 4 wheeler, and is saving money to buy a bigger machine ! Such a boy...
"Dad lending a push through the mud.."
Wheels off the ground as he pops out of a small creek...This is not his Mom's favorite picture I am sure..but she is trying her best not to be too 'motherly' with him!
This is our neighbor Sam in her go cart, which she added a cover to...by herself...so it looked alot like a 'Flintstone mobile'. She took Adam for a ride, and he did his best to keep his leg from touching hers...that will change as he grows up! Jigg's, his Grandparents dog, is checking out the ride.
They left here last Friday, and had good weather to return home by. Adam was very sad, as was his Grandma Jan, and I ..all my critters miss his attention, and I miss my helper.
Looking forward to next years visit!
To all my blogger friends, Kaz, Amy, Becky, Di, Debi(by the way Debi, my condolences on the loss of your Mom) and those not mentioned, I have missed reading your blogs and missed sharing my life, and now have my independence back and promise to do a weekly blog..at least.!
Family and old friends
************
I am back from my trip north.
For some reason, the blogsite won't allow me to upload pictures of the trip.
I really enjoyed seeing my old highschool friends, we seemed to take up just where we left off.
Kind of unnerving actually.I really hope I will see them again before so many years go by.
Seeing family is always a joy for me !
I returned home by car with my sister-in-law and their dog Jiggs, and found Bobs Mom and her cat already here.Sunday my nephew John, his wife Keri and son Adam will arrive in their big 5th wheel toy hauler for a visit...Adam loves to ride his 4-wheeler here...child after my own heart. This was last years visit..
Uncle Bob will let him drive the tractor and cut some grass for him...he loves that too.
I can't thank all my wonderful family and friends enough for the love they showed me on my visit. You all know how much you mean to me...
much love, always..
Promised Daffodils
**********************************
It's Sunday, March 1st. Yesterday's weather was bad. Rainy and cold, and the dogs didn't get a run. I was sick, actually I am still fighting this darn cold, but yesterday the headache got me. The last of February and it was crummy. March is coming in like a lion, as the old saying goes. Today it's cold and we have had ice, snow, sleet and a mixture of the three. We had a good breakfast and then we played cards with Mom, her greatest joy.
Before cards I went and fed my horses and there were 2 daffodils in bloom, although they were drooped and draped in ice, I picked them and brought them to the table for Mom. I had promised her daffodils before she left to go home. She leaves next Sunday.
The birds are very active this morning and if you look closely at this picture you will see there are birds perched all over the bushes, and on the feeders. My poor hammock is hanging low covered in ice as are the electric fence tapes.
The gazing ball was glazed...
All in all this day is a wash for outdoor activity. I'm still hoping it will clear long enough to run the dogs, although both of them seem content to curl up on 'their' couch. Mom is snoring in the chair now, and I'm hoping I didn't tell her of her upcoming trip too soon, as she will dwell on it and make herself sick thinking about it. With any luck the dementia will work in my favor and she might forget.
I think its a great day to write some poetry and curl up with a good book. I have read all Becky's books http://peevishpen.blogspot.com, but I am still not finished with 'Mom's Family Pie' by Peggy Ann Shifflet. Becky also has given me other books to read, and I thank her for catching me up with the 'Southern' thing. Without her, I would be up the creek, with no paddle!
