My little Rider

****************************
Caine came Sunday with his Mom and Dad for his Moms 30th birthday dinner of steamed shrimp, potatoe salad and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting.
But before dinner it was a quick trim of his hair and then playing outside, in the dirt and rocks with his stash of toys that are here.

After washing his hands and face in cake, he didn't like the feel of it. What to do ? No problem with Penny in the house...

A little stretch over the high chair tray and the 'cleaning tongue' went to work.

After dinner we had a fire in the pit, Caines first campfire, and of course we had to toast marshmallows, another first for him. He was really mesmerized by the fire, but he doesn't give in, even when he's exhausted.
Below, he had to have one more sit on Grammy's machine that was put away for the night in the shed. He was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open !

RIDERS
(Robert Frost)
The surest thing there is is we are riders,
And though none too successful at it, guiders,
Through everything presented, land and tide
And now the very air, of what we ride.
What is this talked-of mystery of birth
But being mounted bareback on the earth?
We can just see the infant up astride,
His small fist buried in the bushy hide.
There is our wildest mount--a headless horse.
But though it runs unbridled off its course,
And all our blandishments would seem defired,
We have ideas yet that we haven't tried.
A busy afternoon, riding on his wonderhorse 'Tex', riding on the 4-wheeler, playing in the dirt, the fire, then it was time to go home. I sent him home with a lion halloween suit made of faux fur I got for him, and I can't wait to see the pictures his Mom has promised.
He cried.. didn't want to leave and Grammy had to carry him to the car and hand him to his Dad while he screamed and kicked and grabbed for me...broke my heart. Wish he lived closer, but I will see him soon...

My trees..bottled,faced,flowered

********************
When visiting me in my little hollow, if you are observant, you will notice that some of my trees have faces. You will also notice that I have bottles hung in my trees. And if you wander the paths through the woods, you may notice that there are little objects placed inside niches in trees...

This face has eyes that light up when its dark...

A closer look will find a blue jays feather has gotten wedged above his mouth..Does my big oak have a fondness for feathered creatures? I know he likes small children...

Robert Frost is one of my favorite poets........
INTO MY OWN by Robert Frost
One of my wishes is that those dark trees,
So old and firm they scarcely show the breeze,
Were not, as 'twere, the merest mask of gloom,
But stretched away unto the edge of doom.
I should not be withheld but that some day
Into their vastness I should steal away,
Fearless of ever finding open land,
Or highway where the slow wheel pours the sand.
I do not see why I should e'er turn back,
Or those should not set forth upon my track
To overtake me, who should miss me here
And long to know if still I held them dear.
They would not find me changed from him they knew
Only more sure of all I thought was true.

If you look closely at the trunk of this huge yellow poplar you will see a face...
Seek out the hidden treasures all around us.........

Now in November when most leaves are turning brown the Camellia at the left corner of my house is in full bloom. I relate to this plant. Although I am starting into the latter part of my years, I am also just beginning to bloom...

My little horses don't care if I bloom, if the trees have personality or if it rains..
They only want their hay.

They are stinky little mud balls...
and I love them along with all my furry critters!
